Early Years Pupil Premium
From April 2015, Highfield Nursery School has been able to claim extra funding through the Early Years Pupil Premium with the aim to support children's development, learning and care. The Early Years Pupil Premium has provided Highfield Nursery School children (if eligible) with extra funding to close their educational gap.
The Early Years Pupil Premium provides an extra £300 per year for three and four year old children whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits or who were formally in local authority care but who left care because they were adopted or were subject to a special guardianship or child arrangements order. This corresponds to £25 per month for each child taking up the full 15 hours per week of funded entitlement to early education.
We review our EYPP provision each September and April.
EYPP Annual Impact Assessment Report and Poster 2023/24
The first intervention programme we use through EYPP funding is WellComm. The impact of the WellComm intervention programme at Highfield Nursery School indicates that the programme is supporting positive outcomes for children with identified speech and language difficulties.
As a Nursery School has enhanced speech and language, trained practitioners to work one-to-one and in small group speech sessions with all eligible EYPP children who have an identified speech, language and communication need. The impact of this work is measured through the use of the WellComm speech and language assessment tool with summary reports that document progress made and next steps being provided to both the school SENDCO and the child’s parents/carers.
Please see the EYPP Plan poster above for details of all interventions available at Highfield Nursery School.
All interventions are delivered in a triad of child, parent and practitioner wherever possible.
